Royalmail

Royalmail is the postal service that has its presence in the United Kingdom as well as in Northern Ireland. The Royalmail Holdings, a public limited company, is the owner of Royalmail Group Ltd. This controls the operations of Royalmail. It was established in the year 1516 and since then Royalmail is the most trusted name for sending of letters and other parcels from the island of Great Britain. The Postal Services Act 2011 has given Her Majesty’s Government the right to privatize Royalmail to the extent of 90%. The 130,000 strong postal workers work hard to provide various services like special delivery, business services and non postal services.

Postmen riding customized load carrying bicycles have been a trademark of the Royalmail for a long period of time. The modern day transport of the Royalmail includes the ship RMS St. Helena, the Boeing 737-3Y0 G-ZAPV which is operated by Titan Airways and a large fleet of vans and push trolleys. As of 2012, there has been and will be various changes in the prices of the postal services. High quality services come at a price and so there has been a revised price list. Royalmail believes in delivering 93% of the 1st class items in the very next working day itself and also delivering 98% of the 2nd class items in three days time.

Royalmail tracking

To make sure that you feel safe and secure after posting your letter or parcel through Royalmail, it offers a tracking service for you. There is a link in the Royalmail website that will lead you to the segment of Track and Trace. When the page opens you will find a blank box where you will have to enter the 13 character reference number and then click on the “Track item” button. You will be glad to find a step by step progress of your letter or parcel till it reaches its destination.

It is important that you understand the importance of your unique reference number for the Royalmail tracking. If you have lost your reference number, there is no way to retrieve it but you can expect your mail to reach its destination anyway. In case you are sending any parcel abroad, you will not be able to track and trace that item as the service is restricted within the boundaries of the United Kingdom exclusively.
